How it works
Set up your SEO tools and optional assistant access
Start with your site settings and an audit. Learn how the proposal queue works before giving an assistant access, and check the permissions that come with its WordPress account.
Getting started
From installation to your first task
The plugin works without an assistant. If you plan to connect one, use a staging site to check the settings, proposed changes, and page output before applying the same workflow to a live site.
Install and check your settings
Check that the site runs WordPress 7.0+ and PHP 8.1+. Back up before switching plugins and test the import on staging. Set your title templates, indexing preferences, and the optional modules you need.
Install and activate the pluginRun the audit
Run the audit inside WordPress to identify issues such as missing descriptions, title length, and indexing settings. Check each finding against the page: an intentional noindex setting, for example, may need no change. This audit uses the plugin's rules and does not require an AI assistant.
Run the site auditConfigure proposal review
Enable the Agent module, labeled Assistant connection in settings, and Autopilot. Under Assistant changes, choose Hold for my review. This sets guard mode to propose for supported write abilities. A proposal shows the fields to review before applying a change.
Read and review a proposalConnect your assistant
Check your assistant's connection requirements and create an Application Password for a WordPress user with the permissions you intend to grant. Connect to the built-in MCP endpoint and begin with a read task. Then request a supported change and inspect the proposal before applying it.
Connect your assistant
The connection
Where the assistant fits
The connection is built in
The plugin provides an MCP endpoint at /wp-json/wp-visibility/mcp. Your assistant must support the connection and authentication method; some clients need a local bridge. Follow the client setup instructions and check which tools are exposed before running a task. Read the connection guide.
Configure proposal review
Enable Agent and Autopilot, then select Hold for my review to set guard mode to propose. Supported write abilities will queue the requested changes. A proposal must be approved before it applies, but the connected account may have approval authority or access to other write routes. Check the supported operations and limits.
Permissions
What to check before connecting
The review queue protects particular operations. It does not turn a WordPress administrator account into a restricted assistant account. Review both the enabled abilities and the account's wider permissions.
Choose the account deliberately
An Application Password inherits its WordPress user's permissions. Giving an assistant an administrator credential can allow publishing, settings changes, and other actions outside the proposal queue.
Understand approval access
The approve-proposal ability is disabled by default. A credential with sufficient permissions can still approve through the direct proposals API. Disabling an ability does not remove that authority.
Check settings access
The settings ability excludes module toggles, license credentials, and uninstall controls. Other WordPress settings routes have their own permission checks and can remain available to the same user.
Know what pause covers
The kill switch pauses the Agent ability surface. Settings, CLI, and direct recovery routes are separate, so pause does not revoke the connected credential or disable every WordPress action.
Use the activity log and write limit to supervise ability use. To remove an integration's credential access, revoke its Application Password as well as checking the plugin's controls.
Ways of working
Choose how to do the work
Use the admin, a supported assistant, or both according to the task.
In WordPress
Edit titles and descriptions, manage redirects, and configure schema and sitemaps from the admin. Leave the assistant connection off if you do not need it.
With an assistant
Ask for an audit or proposals for a defined set of pages. Inspect the suggested fields and use the activity log to review the ability calls.
A mix of both
Keep site settings under your own management and ask an assistant to help with selected SEO tasks. Revisit its permissions when the work changes.
Every way of working comes with the same license: $99 a year, unlimited sites, client sites included, with a 30-day refund. Read why we built WP Visibility.
Check a public site first
The hosted scanner runs separately from the plugin and does not edit your site. Use its findings as starting points for investigation, then check whether the plugin covers the work you want to do.
